2026년 8월 12일 오후 4시 15분 부산 벡스코 오디토리움에서 열린 세계도서관정보대회(WLIC) 폐회식에서는 대회 주요 프로그램과 성과를 공유하고, 도서관계 발전과 IFLA 활동에 기여한 개인과 단체를 대상으로 시상이 진행되었다. 

특히 연구 성과와 우수 사례를 직접 소개하고 자유롭게 토론하는 포스터 세션에서 참가자 투표로 선정하는 ‘Viewers' Choice’에 장효경 영광고등학교 사서교사와 주 경 순천동산초등학교 사서교사가 선정되어 한국 사서의 위상을 세계에 알렸다.

A school library can be the heart of a school: a place where students explore big questions about the world and their place in it.

This poster shares a two-year whole-school reading programme led by a teacher-librarian at a Korean high school, built on five steps: Read, Discuss, Dialogue, Experience and Act, Create.

In the first year, under the theme "Our Efforts for a Better World," students explored ecological issues through non-competitive reading discussions, author talks, and an overnight camp on climate change and fast fashion. They joined an upcycling and clothing-swap workshop with local activists and an eco-humanities camp with wetland walks. The year ended with eco-themed poems and stories published by students.

In the second year, the theme shifted to "Finding Our Humanity in the Age of AI." Students again joined non-competitive reading discussions and AI-humanities camps, including a four-school joint camp. The year ended with a student-published short fiction collection.

One learning journey, two different themes, four student-published books. A school library can connect students with real-world issues, engage the community, and turn readers into changemakers: a replicable model for educational transformation.
